Priest Celebrating Mass

Holy Communion

We learn from The Second Vatican Council that the source and summit of our faith is the Eucharist.  Christ comes to us truly present in the Eucharist, it is not a sign, not a symbol, it is a reality.  A person's First Eucharist should be a special time and celebration for them and their family.

Traditionally First Eucharist is received at the end of Grade 3 Religious Education (Forming Disciples).  Others who have not made their First Holy Communion can speak with the pastor and Faith Formation Coordinator to try and figure out what the best options might be to celebrate this sacrament.

The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation.  Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord's own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist. CCC 1322
